The prevalence of gestational diabetes is increasing worldwide. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) increases obesity and future development of type 2 diabetes in mother and child. Previous research has looked at the beneficial effects of probiotics in reducing metabolic diseases, however, these specific benefits on women with GDM are not fully understood yet. This systematic review and meta-analysis of fourteen randomised controlled trials assessed the beneficial effects of probiotics on glycemic control and metabolic parameters in women with GDM. This study separately assessed probiotic bacterial strains such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Lactobacillus casei to understand their beneficial effects on metabolic parameters. This meta-analysis and systematic review suggest that probiotic supplementation could help improve glycemic control, insulin resistance and lipid levels in women diagnosed with GDM. All probiotic strains showed improvements in metabolic parameters when assessed separately. Further robust studies are required to assess the effect of probiotic supplementation on post- and pre-prandial glycemic control in women with GDM. Healthcare professionals can employ the results of this study to understand the therapeutic benefits of probiotics for improving GDM.
Abstract
OBJECTIVES To assess the effects of probiotic supplements on glycemic control and metabolic parameters in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) by performing a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. The primary outcome was glycemic control, i.e., serum glucose and insulin levels. Secondary outcomes were maternal weight gain, neonatal birth weight, and lipid parameters. Weighted mean difference (WMD) was used. Cochrane's Q test of heterogeneity and I2 were used to assess heterogeneity. RESULTS Of the 843 papers retrieved, 14 (n = 854 women) met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. When compared with placebo, women receiving probiotic supplements had significantly lower mean fasting serum glucose, fasting serum insulin, homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), triglycerides, total cholesterol, and VLDL levels. Decreased neonatal birth weight was witnessed in supplements containing Lactobacillus acidophilus. CONCLUSION Probiotic supplements may improve glycemic control and lipid profile and reduce neonatal birth weight in women with GDM.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the consumption of extruded SC319 whole sorghum or extruded whole wheat associated with an 8-week daily 500 kcal energy restriction diet on the modulation of intestinal health with a focus on gut microbiota, short-chain fatty acid production, faecal pH, and weight loss and inflammation markers. This study was an 8-week, single-blind, controlled, randomised nutritional intervention study conducted in 21 men with overweight. The participants were randomly allocated in a 1:1 ratio to receive extruded SC319 whole sorghum or extruded whole wheat. Results showed that consuming SC319 extruded sorghum along with an energy restricted diet achieved greater weight loss and reduced body fat percentage in Brazilian men with overweight compared to the wheat group, with no differences in SCFA synthesis, faecal pH, alpha and beta-diversity, and inflammatory markers. Sorghum consumption promoted alternations in intestinal microbiome composition at the genus level, probably due to the presence of resistant starch and polyphenolic compounds. Authors conclude that sorghum consumption improved weight loss, decreased anthropometric measures, and acted as a prebiotic, thereby changing intestinal microbiome composition.
Abstract
BACKGROUND Sorghum is a cereal source of energy, carbohydrates, resistant starch, proanthocyanidins, and 3-deoxyanthocyanins; it promotes satiety by slowing digestion and benefits intestinal health. OBJECTIVE This study investigated the effects of extruded sorghum SC319 consumption on intestinal health, weight loss, and inflammatory markers in men with overweight. METHODS This was a randomized, controlled, single-blind clinical trial. Twenty-one men were randomly allocated into one of two groups: the sorghum group (test), which received 40 g of extruded SC319 whole sorghum (n = 10), or the wheat group (control), which received 38 g of extruded whole wheat (n = 11) for eight weeks. RESULTS The sorghum consumption increased the weight loss intragroup, decreased the body fat percentage intergroup, and did not change inflammatory markers, while the wheat group had increased IL-6 levels compared to baseline. Short-chain fatty acid production, fecal pH, and α and β diversity indexes did not differ intra- and intergroup after interventions. However, sorghum consumption decreased genus levels of Clostridium_sensu_stricto 1, Dorea, and Odoribacter and increased CAG-873 and Turicibacter compared to baseline. Further, sorghum showed a tendency (p = 0.07) to decrease the proteobacteria phyla compared to wheat. CONCLUSION Extruded sorghum SC319 improved intestinal microbiota and body composition and promoted weight loss, demonstrating its prebiotic potential.

Today, the microbiota is considered a therapeutic revolution, where researchers use its enrichment to prevent or treat certain diseases including obesity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a probiotic supplement containing Bifidobacteruim, Lactobacillus strains and a prebiotic supplement by carob on the changes in body composition and metabolic biomarkers in subjects with obesity. This study was a prospective interventional study. Forty-five patients were recruited on their first visit to the obesity unit and were randomly assigned to three groups. All participants were enrolled in the weight loss program at the beginning of the study and followed a low-carbohydrate, reduced-energy intake eating plan. Results showed that a low-carbohydrate, restricted-energy diet effectively showed positive results in terms of weight loss, metabolic parameters and obesity-related psychiatric disorders in obese individuals. Authors concluded that prebiotics and probiotics supplementation with lifestyle measures can be taken into consideration for the management of obesity.
Abstract
INTRODUCTION The management of obesity is difficult with many failures of lifestyle measures, hence the need to broaden the range of treatments prescribed. The aim of our work was to study the influence of pre and probiotics on weight loss psychological profile and metabolic parameters in obese patients. METHODS It is a clinical trial involving 45 obese patients, recruited from the Obesity Unit of the National Institute of Nutrition between March and August 2022 divided into three groups: diet only (low-carbohydrate and reduced energy diet), prebiotics (30 g of carob/day) and probiotics (one tablet containing Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus helveticus, Lactococcus lactis, Streptococcus thermophilus/day). The three groups were matched for age, sex and BMI. Patients were seen after 1 month from the intervention. Anthropometric measures, biological parameters, dietary survey and psychological scores were performed. RESULTS The average age of our population was 48.73 ± 7.7 years, with a female predominance. All three groups showed a significant decrease in weight, BMI and waist circumference with p < .05. Only the prebiotic and probiotic group showed a significant decrease in fat mass (p = .001) and a significant increase in muscle strength with p = .008 and .004, but the differences were not significant between the three groups. Our results showed also a significant decrease in insulinemia and HOMA-IR in the prebiotic group compared to the diet-alone group (p = .03; p = .012) and the probiotic group showed a significant decrease in fasting blood glucose compared to the diet alone group (p = .02). A significant improvement in sleep quality was noted in the prebiotic group (p = .02), with a significant decrease in depression, anxiety and stress in all three groups. CONCLUSIONS The prescription of prebiotics and probiotics with the lifestyle measures seems interesting for the management of obesity especially if it is sarcopenic, in addition to the improvement of metabolic parameters and obesity-related psychiatric disorders.

The whole grain content of the carbohydrates consumed in pregnancy has been considered to influence outcomes such as maternal weight gain, large for date infants and childhood obesity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a diet with different proportions of total carbohydrates, as either 75% refined grains or 75% whole grains, on pregnancy associated changes in the maternal microbiome and pregnancy outcomes. This study is a randomised interventional study which enrolled 303 pregnant women in their first and second gestational trimester. The mother was followed throughout her pregnancy and postpartum. Participants were randomly assigned to one of the two groups: refined vs whole grains. Results did not show any significant difference between the two diets (whole grains vs refined grains) in relation to intestinal microbiome. However, it marginally affected the gestational dynamics of the vaginal microbiome. In the whole grains diet group, there was a trend of reduced vaginal alpha diversity, during gestation, while in the refined grains group, vaginal diversity remained stable. Authors conclude that diet modulations of the vaginal microbiome during gestation may have important implications for maternal and neonatal health and in the intergenerational transfer of maternal microbiome.
Abstract
Dietary whole grain consumption has been postulated to have metabolic benefits. The purpose of this study was to compare a pregnancy diet containing 75% of total carbohydrates as refined grains with a diet of 75% of total carbohydrates as whole grains for pregnancy outcomes and effects on the microbiome. Gestational weight gain, glucose tolerance and newborn outcomes were measured on 248 enrolled compliant women from whom a subset of 103 women consented to give 108 vaginal and 109 anal swabs. The data presented here are limited to the patients from whom the vaginal and anal swabs were obtained in order to study the microbiome. A microbiome-16SrRNA survey-was characterized in these samples. Samples and measurements were obtained at the first obstetrical visit, before beginning a prescribed diet (T1-baseline) and after 17-32 weeks on the prescribed diet (T3). Food frequency questionnaires and total plasma alkylresorcinols were used as a measure of whole grain consumption. There were no dietary differences in maternal weight gain, birth weight, or glucose tolerance test. Mothers consuming the whole grains diet showed a trend of gestational decrease in vaginal bacterial alpha diversity, with increasing Lactobacillus-dominance. No significant difference was observed for the anal microbiome. The results suggest that diet modulations of the vaginal microbiome during gestation may have important implications for maternal and neonatal health and in the intergenerational transfer of maternal microbiome. Obesity is an important risk factor for chronic diseases. Aside from well-established mechanisms such as obesity-induced inflammation, alterations in sugar and lipid metabolism, and steroid hormone signalling, imbalances in the composition of the gut microbiome have also been linked to the progression of obesity and its cardio-metabolic sequelae. The aim of this study was to investigate whether intermittent calorie restriction (ICR) (operationalised as the 5:2 diet) or continuous calorie restriction (CCR) induced alterations in the gut microbiome, and to which extent these were associated with overall weight loss irrespective of the dietary intervention in overweight or obese adults. This study was conducted using data and samples of the HELENA trial which was a parallel-arm randomised controlled trial. Participants were randomly assigned to one of three groups, i.e., an ICR (n = 49), a CCR (n = 49), or a control group (n = 52) over a 50-week period in a 1:1:1 ratio. Results showed that the type of calorie restriction or the amount of weight lost were not accompanied by substantial and consistent shifts in gut microbiome composition or the abundance of individual bacterial taxa. Authors conclude that moderate ICR or CCR interventions as well as an overall moderate weight loss induced by calorie restriction (irrespective of which form) may not be associated with significant changes in the gut microbiome of overweight and obese adults, notwithstanding observed metabolic improvements.
Abstract
BACKGROUND The gut microbiota has been suggested to play a significant role in the development of overweight and obesity. However, the effects of calorie restriction on gut microbiota of overweight and obese adults, especially over longer durations, are largely unexplored. METHODS Here, we longitudinally analyzed the effects of intermittent calorie restriction (ICR) operationalized as the 5:2 diet versus continuous calorie restriction (CCR) on fecal microbiota of 147 overweight or obese adults in a 50-week parallel-arm randomized controlled trial, the HELENA Trial. The primary outcome of the trial was the differential effects of ICR versus CCR on gene expression in subcutaneous adipose tissue. Changes in the gut microbiome, which are the focus of this publication, were defined as exploratory endpoint of the trial. The trial comprised a 12-week intervention period, a 12-week maintenance period, and a final follow-up period of 26 weeks. RESULTS Both diets resulted in ~5% weight loss. However, except for Lactobacillales being enriched after ICR, post-intervention microbiome composition did not significantly differ between groups. Overall weight loss was associated with significant metabolic improvements, but not with changes in the gut microbiome. Nonetheless, the abundance of the Dorea genus at baseline was moderately predictive of subsequent weight loss (AUROC of 0.74 for distinguishing the highest versus lowest weight loss quartiles). Despite the lack of consistent intervention effects on microbiome composition, significant study group-independent co-variation between gut bacterial families and metabolic biomarkers, anthropometric measures, and dietary composition was detectable. Our analysis in particular revealed associations between insulin sensitivity (HOMA-IR) and Akkermansiaceae, Christensenellaceae, and Tanerellaceae. It also suggests the possibility of a beneficial modulation of the latter two intestinal taxa by a diet high in vegetables and fiber, and low in processed meat. CONCLUSIONS Overall, our results suggest that the gut microbiome remains stable and highly individual-specific under dietary calorie restriction. TRIAL REGISTRATION The trial, including the present microbiome component, was prospectively registered at ClinicalTrials.gov NCT02449148 on May 20, 2015.

The global rise in the prevalence of obesity is strongly associated with an increase in the incidence and prevalence of cardiometabolic diseases, including insulin resistance (IR) and type 2 diabetes mellitus. In recent years, advancements have been made in understanding the involvement of the gut microbiome in obesity and related cardiometabolic complications as regulator of host energy and substrate metabolism. This study is a review that discusses the latest research describing interactions between dietary composition, the gut microbiome and host metabolism. Results show that current evidence for developing optimal dietary interventions targeting bodyweight control and IR via the gut microbiota is still in its infancy and does not capture the complexity of the integration of a whole-diet approach, the microbial and the host’s metabolic phenotype. Furthermore, implementation of targeted, precision nutrition intervention strategies or dietary guidelines for individuals or subgroups in public health requires further insight in the mechanisms involved in (non-)response to dietary intervention. Authors conclude that future studies are needed and these should focus on assessing detailed individual phenotyping and gaining insight into the balance between carbohydrate and protein fermentation by the gut microbiota as well as the site of fermentation in the colon.
Abstract
Accumulating evidence indicates that the gut microbiome is an important regulator of body weight, glucose and lipid metabolism, and inflammatory processes, and may thereby play a key role in the aetiology of obesity, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Interindividual responsiveness to specific dietary interventions may be partially determined by differences in baseline gut microbiota composition and functionality between individuals with distinct metabolic phenotypes. However, the relationship between an individual's diet, gut microbiome and host metabolic phenotype is multidirectional and complex, yielding a challenge for practical implementation of targeted dietary guidelines. In this review, we discuss the latest research describing interactions between dietary composition, the gut microbiome and host metabolism. Furthermore, we describe how this knowledge can be integrated to develop precision-based nutritional strategies to improve bodyweight control and metabolic health in humans. Specifically, we will address that (1) insight in the role of the baseline gut microbial and metabolic phenotype in dietary intervention response may provide leads for precision-based nutritional strategies; that (2) the balance between carbohydrate and protein fermentation by the gut microbiota, as well as the site of fermentation in the colon, seems important determinants of host metabolism; and that (3) 'big data', including multiple omics and advanced modelling, are of undeniable importance in predicting (non-)response to dietary interventions. Clearly, detailed metabolic and microbial phenotyping in humans is necessary to better understand the link between diet, the gut microbiome and host metabolism, which is required to develop targeted dietary strategies and guidelines for different subgroups of the population.

Obesity, and particularly abdominal adiposity, is associated with various metabolic abnormalities. Diet has a vital role in preventing and managing obesity, but evidence from clinical studies demonstrates there is a great interindividual variability in response to the same dietary intervention, which likely indicates that no one diet is superior to another. The aim of this study was to examine the efficacy of the PREVENTOMICS (empowering consumers to PREVENT diet-related diseases through OMICS sciences) platform, incorporated in an e-commerce digital tool, for producing more favourable health outcomes over dietary plans based on general diet recommendations, in subjects with overweight or obesity and elevated waist circumference. This study is a 10-week randomised single-centre, parallel-group, double-blinded intervention study. Participants were allocated in a 1:1 ratio, stratified by cluster to either the intervention group (personalised plan) or the control group (generic recommendations). Results show that there isn’t any additional benefit of personalising dietary plans, over a generic approach, on the change in fat mass and body weight in individuals with overweight or obesity and elevated waist circumference. Accordingly, personalisation of the diet did not significantly improve health parameters beyond the changes induced by the control diet. Participants in both groups lost approximately 3 kg of body weight. Authors conclude that based on their findings evidence to translate personalised nutrition approaches into clinical practice is insufficient.
Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS Growing evidence suggests that biomarker-guided dietary interventions can optimize response to treatment. In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of the PREVENTOMCIS platform-which uses metabolomic and genetic information to classify individuals into different 'metabolic clusters' and create personalized dietary plans-for improving health outcomes in subjects with overweight or obesity. METHODS A 10-week parallel, double-blinded, randomized intervention was conducted in 100 adults (82 completers) aged 18-65 years, with body mass index ≥27 but <40 kg/m2, who were allocated into either a personalized diet group (n = 49) or a control diet group (n = 51). About 60% of all food was provided free-of-charge. No specific instruction to restrict energy intake was given. The primary outcome was change in fat mass from baseline, evaluated by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. Other endpoints included body weight, waist circumference, lipid profile, glucose homeostasis markers, inflammatory markers, blood pressure, physical activity, stress and eating behavior. RESULTS There were significant main effects of time (P < 0.01), but no group main effects, or time-by-group interactions, for the change in fat mass (personalized: -2.1 [95% CI -2.9, -1.4] kg; control: -2.0 [95% CI -2.7, -1.3] kg) and body weight (personalized: -3.1 [95% CI -4.1, -2.1] kg; control: -3.3 [95% CI -4.2, -2.4] kg). The difference between groups in fat mass change was -0.1 kg (95% CI -1.2, 0.9 kg, P = 0.77). Both diets resulted in significant improvements in insulin resistance and lipid profile, but there were no significant differences between groups. CONCLUSION Personalized dietary plans did not result in greater benefits over a generic, but generally healthy diet, in this 10-week clinical trial. Further studies are required to establish the soundness of different precision nutrition approaches, and translate this science into clinically relevant dietary advice to reduce the burden of obesity and its comorbidities. The aim of this study was to determine the association of prior metabolic surgery with severity of SARSCoV-2 infection in patients with severe obesity. This study is a retrospective, matched-cohort analysis of a prospective, observational, institutional review board–approved clinical registry of all patients tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection. The study population included a total of 363 patients, including 33 individuals who had metabolic surgery and 330 matched patients who tested positive. Results indicate that a history of metabolic surgery is associated with lower severity of SARSCoV-2 infection in patients with severe obesity, as manifested by lower risks of hospital and ICU admission. Authors conclude that prior metabolic surgery with subsequent weight loss and improvement of metabolic abnormalities could potentially reduce morbidity from SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Abstract
BACKGROUND Obesity is a risk factor for poor clinical outcomes in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). OBJECTIVES To investigate the relationship between prior metabolic surgery and the severity of COVID-19 in patients with severe obesity. SETTING Cleveland Clinic Health System in the United States. METHODS Among 4365 patients who tested positive for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) between March 8, 2020 and July 22, 2020 in the Cleveland Clinic Health System, 33 patients were identified who had a prior history of metabolic surgery. The surgical patients were propensity matched 1:10 to nonsurgical patients to assemble a cohort of control patients (n = 330) with a body mass index (BMI) ≥ 40 kg/m2 at the time of SARS-CoV-2 testing. The primary endpoint was the rate of hospital admission. The exploratory endpoints included admission to the intensive care unit (ICU), need for mechanical ventilation and dialysis during index hospitalization, and mortality. After propensity score matching, outcomes were compared in univariate and multivariate regression models. RESULTS The average BMI of the surgical group was 49.1 ± 8.8 kg/m2 before metabolic surgery and was down to 37.2 ± 7.1 at the time of SARS-CoV-2 testing, compared with the control group's BMI of 46.7 ± 6.4 kg/m2. In the univariate analysis, 6 (18.2%) patients in the metabolic surgery group and 139 (42.1%) patients in the control group were admitted to the hospital (P = .013). In the multivariate analysis, a prior history of metabolic surgery was associated with a lower hospital admission rate compared with control patients with obesity (odds ratio, 0.31; 95% confidence interval, 0.11-0.88; P = .028). While none of the 4 exploratory outcomes occurred in the metabolic surgery group, 43 (13.0%) patients in the control group required ICU admission (P = .021), 22 (6.7%) required mechanical ventilation, 5 (1.5%) required dialysis, and 8 (2.4%) patients died. CONCLUSION Prior metabolic surgery with subsequent weight loss and improvement of metabolic abnormalities was associated with lower rates of hospital and ICU admission in patients with obesity who became infected with SARS-CoV-2. Confirmation of these findings will require larger studies.

The aims of this review are to: (i) underline the pathogenic mechanism of the involvement of CD and its neurological manifestations; (ii) establish a clinical relationship between CD and its neurological manifestations; (iii) explore the existing screening and upcoming management guidelines of CD. This review shows that: - the most common neurological manifestations of CD include gluten ataxia, gluten neuropathy, and epilepsy. These conditions are strongly associated with a lower quality of life and a higher rate of hospitalisation. - neurological features of CD should be kept in mind in order to raise an adequate amount of clinical suspicion to perform screening for gluten sensitivity with the aim of reducing the time it takes for diagnosis, and thus patient suffering is kept to a minimum. Authors conclude that further thorough studies about neurological manifestations of CD are needed so that alternative treatment modalities are offered to provide a more holistic treatment approach to a patient with CD.
Abstract
Celiac disease (CD) is a multi-systemic autoimmune condition that causes a hyperinflammatory response when gluten is ingested. There has been a shift in the clinical presentation of CD from a mere malabsorption disorder to an autoimmune condition that affects multiple organ systems, which could increase the rate of hospitalizations and a decreased quality of life. This article has compiled various studies that have explored the neurological manifestations of celiac disease, their epidemiology, possible pathogenic mechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment. The most common neurological conditions include gluten ataxia (GA), gluten neuropathy, gluten encephalopathy, and epilepsy which usually present as sporadic diseases which are difficult to diagnose in the absence of gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms. The treatment for most of these conditions is a gluten-free diet (GFD) regardless of GI involvement.

Many fermented foods are associated with health benefits, including fermented dairy products. Whereby diary itself is part of many nutritional guidelines, the guidances rarely distinguish between dairy and fermented dairy. This qualitative, systematic review sought to capture how consumption of fermented milk products influences health. The review included 108 studies, with over 70% reporting beneficial health outcomes. A small number of studies reported insignificant or neutral results and four unfavourable ones. The aspects of health that were considered included lactose digestion and tolerance, gut health and disease, diarrhoea and constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, cardiovascular health and disease, hypertension, blood lipids, cancer risk, colorectal/breast/prostate cancer, weight and body composition, diabetes risk and metabolic syndrome and bone health. The authors concluded that eating fermented dairy products aided lactose digestion and showed a consistent link with reduced risk of breast and colorectal cancer, type 2 diabetes, and improved weight maintenance, cardiovascular, bone, and gastrointestinal health. As dairy appears to increase the risk for prostate cancer, fermented dairy seems to be no different here to unfermented dairy at increasing the risk. Some potential mechanisms are proposed in the discussion section, how fermented dairy may elicit its health benefits. Given the predominant health benefits of fermented dairy, the authors encouraged to include fermented dairy into national nutrition guidelines and stress distinction between dairy and fermented dairy products. This review captures current evidence of the widespread health benefits of fermented dairy consumption worthwhile considering in clinical practice. In the absence of more clear findings in relation to prostate cancer and prevention, a cautious approach to dairy and fermented dairy consumption may be warranted.
Abstract
Consumption of yogurt and other fermented products is associated with improved health outcomes. Although dairy consumption is included in most dietary guidelines, there have been few specific recommendations for yogurt and cultured dairy products. A qualitative systematic review was conducted to determine the effect of consumption of fermented milk products on gastrointestinal and cardiovascular health, cancer risk, weight management, diabetes and metabolic health, and bone density using PRISMA guidelines. English language papers in PubMed were searched, with no date restrictions. In total, 1057 abstracts were screened, of which 602 were excluded owing to lack of appropriate controls, potential biases, and experimental design issues. The remaining 455 papers were independently reviewed by both authors and 108 studies were included in the final review. The authors met regularly to concur, through consensus, on relevance, methods, findings, quality, and conclusions. The included studies were published between 1979 and 2017. From the 108 included studies, 76 reported a favorable outcome of fermented milks on health and 67 of these were considered to be positive or neutral quality according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Quality Criteria Checklist. Of the 32 remaining studies, the study outcomes were either not significant (28) or unfavorable (4), and most studies (18) were of neutral quality. A causal relationship exists between lactose digestion and tolerance and yogurt consumption, and consistent associations exist between fermented milk consumption and reduced risk of breast and colorectal cancer and type 2 diabetes, improved weight maintenance, and improved cardiovascular, bone, and gastrointestinal health. Further, an association exists between prostate cancer occurrence and dairy product consumption in general, with no difference between fermented and unfermented products. This article argues that yogurt and other fermented milk products provide favorable health outcomes beyond the milk from which these products are made and that consumption of these products should be encouraged as part of national dietary guidelines.
