Abstract
INTRODUCTION In rare occasions, coxsackievirus infections can cause serious illness, such as encephalitis and myocarditis. The immunotherapies of cancer could increase the risk of myocarditis, especially when applying immune checkpoint inhibitors. Herein, we report a rare case of Coxsackie B virus-induced myocarditis in a patient with a history of lymphoma. CASE PRESENTATION A 32-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital with recurrent fever for more than 20 days, and she had a history of lymphoma. Before admission, the positron emission tomography/computed tomography result indicated that the patient had no tumor progression, and she was not considered the cancer-related fever upon arriving at our hospital. Patient's red blood cell, platelet count, and blood pressure were decreased. In addition, she had sinus bradycardia and 3 branch blocks, which was consistent with acute high lateral and anterior wall myocardial infarction. During hospitalization, the patient had recurrent arrhythmia, repeated sweating, poor mentation, dyspnea, and Coxsackie B virus were detected in patient's blood samples by pathogen-targeted next-generation sequencing. The creatine kinase, creatine kinase MB, and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide were persistently elevated. Consequently, the patient was diagnosed with viral myocarditis induced by Coxsackie B virus, and treated with acyclovir, gamma globulin combined with methylprednisolone shock therapy, trimetazidine, levosimendan, sildenan, continuous pump pressors with m-hydroxylamine, entecavir, adefovir, glutathione, pantoprazole, and low-molecular-weight heparin. Her symptoms worsened and died. CONCLUSION We reported a case with a history of lymphoma presented with fever, myocardial injury, who was ultimately diagnosed with Coxsackie B virus-induced myocarditis. Moreover, pathogen-targeted next-generation sequencing indeed exhibited higher sensitivity compared to mNGS in detecting Coxsackie B virus.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) could be fatal to patients without human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Current diagnostic methods are either invasive or inaccurate. We aimed to establish an accurate and non-invasive radiomics-based way to identify the risk of PCP infection in non-HIV patients with computed tomography (CT) manifestation of pneumonia. METHODS This is a retrospective study including non-HIV patients hospitalized for suspected PCP from January 2010 to December 2022 in one hospital. The patients were randomized in a 7:3 ratio into training and validation cohorts. Computed tomography (CT)-based radiomics features were extracted automatically and used to construct a radiomics model. A diagnostic model with traditional clinical and CT features was also built. The area under the curve (AUC) were calculated and used to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the models. The combination of the radiomics features and serum β-D-glucan levels was also evaluated for PCP diagnosis. RESULTS A total of 140 patients (PCP: N = 61, non-PCP: N = 79) were randomized into training (N = 97) and validation (N = 43) cohorts. The radiomics model consisting of nine radiomic features performed significantly better (AUC = 0.954; 95% CI: 0.898-1.000) than the traditional model consisting of serum β-D-glucan levels (AUC = 0.752; 95% CI: 0.597-0.908) in identifying PCP (P = 0.002). The combination of radiomics features and serum β-D-glucan levels showed an accuracy of 95.8% for identifying PCP infection (positive predictive value: 95.7%, negative predictive value: 95.8%). CONCLUSIONS Radiomics showed good diagnostic performance in differentiating PCP from other types of pneumonia in non-HIV patients. A combined diagnostic method including radiomics and serum β-D-glucan has the potential to provide an accurate and non-invasive way to identify the risk of PCP infection in non-HIV patients with CT manifestation of pneumonia. Abstract
Driven by the good developmental potential and favorable environment at this stage, Ganoderma lucidum is recognized as a precious large fungus with medicinal and nutritional health care values. Among them, polysaccharides, triterpenoids, oligosaccharides, trace elements, etc. are important bioactive components in G. lucidum. These bioactive components will have an impact on gut flora, thus alleviating diseases such as hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and obesity caused by gut flora disorder. While numerous studies have demonstrated the ability of G. lucidum and its active components to regulate gut flora, a systematic review of this mechanism is currently lacking. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the regulatory effects of G. lucidum and its active components on gut flora in cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and renal metabolic diseases, and summarize the research progress of G. lucidum active components in improving related diseases by regulating gut flora. Additionally, review delves into the principle by which G. lucidum and its active components can treat or assist treat diseases by regulating gut flora. The research progress of G. lucidum in intestinal tract and its potential in medicine, health food and clinical application were fully explored for researchers.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to conduct a thorough evaluation of the association between Benzophenone-3 (BP-3) exposure and OA, offering critical insights into the underlying mechanisms involved. The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database was utilized to investigate the correlation between BP-3 and osteoarthritis. Proteomic sequencing from clinical sample and the PharmMapper online tool were employed to predict the biological target of BP-3. Cellular molecular assays and transfection studies were performed to verify the prediction from bioinformatics analyses. Through cross-sectional analysis of the NHANES database, we identified BP-3 as a risk factor for OA development. The results of proteomic sequencing showed that Secreted Protein Acidic and Rich in Cysteine (SPARC) was significantly elevated in the area of damage compared to the undamaged area. SPARC was also among the potential biological targets of BP-3 predicted by the online program. Through in vitro cell experiments, we further determined that the toxicological effects of BP-3 may be due to SPARC, which elevates intracellular GPX4 levels, activates the glutathione system, and promotes lipid peroxidation to mitigate ferroptosis. Inhibiting SPARC expression has been shown to reduce inflammation and ferroptosis in OA contexts. This research provides an expansive understanding of BP-3's influence on osteoarthritis development. We have identified SPARC as a potent target for combating chondrocyte ferroptosis in BP-3-associated osteoarthritis.

Serum hepcidin levels in chronic liver disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Dysregulation of hepcidin-iron axis is presumed to account for abnormal iron status in patients with chronic liver disease (CLD). Our aim is to determine the effect of specific etiologies of CLD and of cirrhosis on serum hepcidin levels. METHODS PubMed, Embase, Web of Science were searched for studies comparing serum hepcidin levels in patients with CLD to that in controls using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The study was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Guidelines. Statistical analysis was carried out with STATA using random effects model to calculate the mean difference (MD) between two groups. RESULTS Hepcidin levels were significantly lower in subjects with hepatitis C virus (16 studies) [MD -1.6 (95 % CI: -2.66 to -0.54), p<0.01] and alcoholic liver disease (3 studies) [MD -0.84 (95 % CI: -1.6 to -0.07), p=0.03] than controls. Serum hepcidin was significantly higher in subjects with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (12 studies) [MD 0.62 (95 % CI: 0.21 to 1.03), p<0.01], but did not differ in subjects with hepatitis B and controls (eight studies) [MD -0.65 (95 % CI: -1.47 to 0.16), p=0.12]. Hepcidin levels were significantly lower in patients with cirrhosis of any etiology (four studies) [MD -1.02 (CI: -1.59 to -0.45), p<0.01] vs. controls (CI: confidence interval). CONCLUSIONS Serum hepcidin levels are altered in common forms of CLD albeit not in a consistent direction. Additional study is needed to determine how changes in hepcidin levels are related to dysregulation of iron metabolism in CLD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common comorbidity of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Our aim is to investigate the effects of liraglutide on T2DM with NAFLD. METHODS Relevant articles published from the earliest publication to March 2022 were selected from several databases. The Cochrane Collaboration's RevMan software was used for the analysis. RESULTS Sixteen studies are selected for this meta-analysis, which includes totally 634 patients in the treatment group and 630 patients in the control group. As a result, 14 studies show that fasting plasma glucose levels of the experimental group are lower than that of the control group; 15 studies show that glycosylated hemoglobin A1c levels of the experimental group are lower than that of the control group; 13 studies show that triglyceride levels of the experimental group are lower than that of the control group; twelve studies show that total cholesterol levels of the experimental group are lower than that of the control group; 10 studies show that alanine aminotransferase levels of the experimental group is lower than that of the control group; 10 studies show that no significant difference in changes in aspartate transaminase between 2 groups; 13 studies show that low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels of the experimental group is lower than that of the control group; 9 studies show that no significant difference in changes in high density lipoprotein cholesterol between 2 groups; 7 studies mentioned adverse effects and the difference is significant. CONCLUSION Liraglutide is potentially curative for T2DM with NAFLD.

Abstract
Meta-analysis of whole genome sequencing/whole exome sequencing (WGS/WES) studies provides an attractive solution to the problem of collecting large sample sizes for discovering rare variants associated with complex phenotypes. Existing rare variant meta-analysis approaches are not scalable to biobank-scale WGS data. Here we present MetaSTAAR, a powerful and resource-efficient rare variant meta-analysis framework for large-scale WGS/WES studies. MetaSTAAR accounts for relatedness and population structure, can analyze both quantitative and dichotomous traits and boosts the power of rare variant tests by incorporating multiple variant functional annotations. Through meta-analysis of four lipid traits in 30,138 ancestrally diverse samples from 14 studies of the Trans Omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed) Program, we show that MetaSTAAR performs rare variant meta-analysis at scale and produces results comparable to using pooled data. Additionally, we identified several conditionally significant rare variant associations with lipid traits. We further demonstrate that MetaSTAAR is scalable to biobank-scale cohorts through meta-analysis of TOPMed WGS data and UK Biobank WES data of ~200,000 samples.

Abstract
Copper is an essential trace element that acts as a cofactor in various enzyme active sites in the human body. It participates in numerous life activities, including lipid metabolism, energy metabolism, and neurotransmitter synthesis. The proposal of "Cuproptosis" has made copper metabolism-related pathways a research hotspot in the field of tumor therapy, which has attracted great attention. This review discusses the biological processes of copper uptake, transport, and storage in human cells. It highlights the mechanisms by which copper metabolism affects hepatocellular carcinogenesis and metastasis, including autophagy, apoptosis, vascular invasion, cuproptosis, and ferroptosis. Additionally, it summarizes the current clinical applications of copper metabolism-related drugs in antitumor therapy.

Efficacy of recombinant human interleukin-11 in preventing and treating oral mucositis after chemotherapy for patients with acute leukemia.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate the clinical effects of recombinant human interleukin-11 (rhIL-11) gargle on preventing and treating oral mucositis (OM) after chemotherapy for acute leukemia. METHODS This single-site, prospective, observer-blinded, nonrandomized controlled trial was conducted on 74 patients with acute leukemia, who were divided into the experimental and control groups. The patients in the experimental group were treated with IL-11 gargle, and those in the control group were treated with sodium bicarbonate gargle. We examined the time and severity of oral mucositis, severity and duration of associated pain, healing time of mucositis, effects of OM on eating, and levels of T-cell subset indicators before and after treatment to evaluate the effects of IL-11 treatment. RESULTS The proportion of patients with severe OM was significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group. Mucositis occurred later in the experimental group compared with the control group. The degree and duration of pain, ulcer healing time, and effects on eating were lower in the experimental group compared with the control group. Following treatment, the levels of all T-cell subset indicators improved in each of the two groups. However, the rate of improvement was significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group. These differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS IL-11 gargle reduced the severity of OM after chemotherapy for acute leukemia. Treatment with IL-11 relieved pain, promoted healing, and improved the curative effect of the condition, making it worthy of clinical promotion.
